THE GREEN LINE

Introduced for 2008, Moose Meadows Farm is proud of this line of Christmas wreaths.  With concerns regarding climate change, fossil fuel usage, local and community sustainability, it is very important that we all do what we can to maintain a healthy environment and local economies.

85% of artificial greenery, including artificial Christmas trees, is manufactured in China, of petroleum products, a non-renewable resource.  The greenery itself is typically comprised of PVC plastic which uses lead in the manufacturing process.  The manufacturing of PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) creates and disperses dioxins, the most toxic man-made chemical known.  When released into the air or water, dioxins enter the food chain, where they accumulate in fatty tissues of all living organisms, a potential risk for causing cancer, damaging immune functions and impairing children’s development.  As artificial greenery is manufactured overseas, they have no benefit on the local economy.

The benefits of natural greenery are obvious – their creation contributes to the local economy and they are entirely biodegradable with the rings reusable or recyclable.  For THE GREEN LINE, the simple but intricate beauty of nature is all that is needed to decorate!
